Changes in New England

The Carsey Institute examines social and economic changes in New England. Carsey researchers analyze the extent to which disparity has grown in New England counties and study patterns of income distribution in New Hampshire’s communities, assessing the impact of the trends and then facilitating public discussion through reports and public meetings on the findings. We also study low-income families in New Hampshire and workers in the state, and published reports and briefs on trends and conditions affecting families and communities.

The Institute developed the Northern New England Indicators web site for researchers, local leaders, business people, and reporters who need timely, local-level data, charts, and maps about the region. Up-to-date social indicators are available for counties and the states of Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont.

This work is supported by the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation and its Durum Fund and other funders.
