Andrew Smith

Survey Center Director

Andrew Smith is the director of the UNH Survey Center. The Survey Center, within the Carsey Institute, is a nonpartisan, academic public opinion research center for governments, not-for-profits, and faculty researchers. Smith also teaches political science courses at the University on public opinion, the New Hampshire Primary, and presidential elections.

Smith, a transplanted Midwesterner, received his Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati. Before coming to UNH, Smith was director of the Wisconsin Poll at the Institute for Survey and Policy Research at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and associate director of the Ohio Poll at the Institute for Policy Research at the University of Cincinnati. His research has focused on survey methodology, elections, and public policy, and he has recently written chapters on polling in New Hampshire and the 2002 New Hampshire Senate election.
