DAVID W. MOORE

Senior Fellow

Prior to joining the Carsey Institute, David Moore was Senior Editor of the Gallup Poll, where he worked for thirteen years. Before that, he was Professor of Political Science at the University of New Hampshire, where he founded and directed the UNH Survey Center. Currently, he is an Associate Editor of the new online journal, Survey Practice, sponsored by the American Association for Public Opinion Research.

He is the author of scores of articles about public opinion and survey methodology, published in scholarly journals, newspapers, books, magazines, and online publications. He is also the author of two books, The Super Pollsters: How They Measure and Manipulate Public Opinion in America (Four Walls Eight Windows, 1992, trade paperback edition in 1995), and How To Steal An Election: The Inside Story of How George Bush’s Brother and FOX Network Miscalled the 2000 Election and Changed the Course of History (Nation Books, 2006). He is currently writing a book on the media and public opinion.

He received his M.A. and Ph.D. in political science at Ohio State University, and his B.S. degree at the United States Military Academy. While at UNH, he served terms as Chair of the Political Science Department, and interim Chair of the Institute for Policy and Social Science Research.
