Vicki Banyard
Victoria Banyard is a senior fellow at the Carsey Institute. She collaborates and consults on Carsey Institute research projects related to interpersonal violence victimization. She is training to be a facilitator for New Hampshire Listens.
Victoria Banyard is a professor in the department of psychology at the University of New Hampshire where she teaches courses in community psychology, domestic and sexual violence, and supervises undergraduate interns working in community settings. She received a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Michigan. Her research focus is on the long-term consequences of traumatic stress including resilience in the face of adversity. In her research Dr. Banyard has examined coping strategies and strengths of families who are struggling with poverty, explored recovery from exposure to interpersonal violence, and has focused on understanding how community engagement can be a key facet of violence prevention. She is on the editorial board of the journal Psychology of Violence and is a Senior Associate Editor for the journal Child Abuse and Neglect.
