Barbara Cook brings to the Carsey Institute an interest in the interactions between people and their environment. As part of the Communities and Environment in Rural America (CERA) study, she maps land cover, contributing to the analysis of ways that land is used as rural economies change over time.

Barbara earned an undergraduate degree in biology from Oberlin College and a master of science degree in teaching in biology from Antioch University. Prior to working at the Carsey Institute, she worked as a naturalist and classroom teacher.
