John Halstead
John Halstead is professor of environmental economics and chair of the Department of Resource Economics and Development at the University of New Hampshire. John’s principal areas of interest and research are environmental economics and rural economic development, particularly non-market valuation, invasive and endangered species, waste management, and infrastructure’s effects on economic development. Currently he is pursuing research efforts that focus on sustainable economic development and the valuation of ecosystem services.
John is the author of two books, thirty refereed journal articles, nine book chapters, and over two hundred other miscellaneous publications and papers in the areas of economic development and environmental economics. He earned his doctorate degree at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in agricultural and applied economics; a master's degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, in resource economics; and his bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Notre Dame.
