Luke Rogers is a research assistant at the Carsey Institute and a Ph.D. candidate in sociology at the University of New Hampshire. Luke’s work at Carsey centers on supporting the research of Dr. Kenneth Johnson, the Senior Demographer at the Carsey Institute, whose research focuses on demographic change, population redistribution trends, and the relationship between demographic and environmental change. In addition to his work for Dr. Johnson, Luke has also researched vulnerable families and examined the Community and Environment in Rural America (CERA) survey.

Luke came to the University of New Hampshire from Virginia, where he received his bachelor’s degree in sociology at Radford University and his master’s degree in sociology at Virginia Commonwealth University. His master’s thesis was titled, “Male Survivors of Sexual Abuse: Walking the Tightrope of Masculinity.” Luke’s doctoral research focuses on domestic migration patterns, environmental inequality, and how communities respond to nearby toxic release sites.
