Curriculum Vitae

Barbara Wauchope is the director of the Carsey Institute’s evaluation program and a research associate professor at the University of New Hampshire. She has twenty years of experience in the direction, design, and implementation of research and evaluation studies. She has particular expertise in program logic-modeling, research and evaluation design and data collection methodologies, and is an experienced provider of evaluation training and technical assistance.

At the Carsey Institute, she conducts program evaluations and applied research studies for nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and foundations. Her evaluation work focuses on programs and initiatives with goals of improving the educational, economic, or health circumstances of low income at-risk families and children and the communities they live in. Several recent evaluation projects have included a financial literacy program that helps people with poor credit access new car loans, a foundation initiative to improve regional long-term community sustainability, and a nonprofit economic development organization. Barbara conducts applied research on state and national issues that concern children and youth, for example, school discipline and youth homelessness, and food policy topics such as access to federal child nutrition programs. She has also conducted research on child care, child abuse, and intimate partner violence.

For fourteen years, Barbara worked for RMC Research Corporation conducting local and cross-site evaluations of grant-funded education, human services, and community development projects and initiatives for federal and state government, foundation, nonprofit organization, college, and school district clients. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her master's and doctoral degrees in sociology from the University of New Hampshire.
