This research project is a collaboration between researchers at the U.S.D.A. Forest Service and Loyola University Chicago.
Funding This project was funded by grant # 01-JV-11231300-038 from the North Central Research Station of the U.S.D.A. Forest Service. Dr. Susan Stewart and Dr. John Dwyer of the research station's Evanston Office provided sponsorship, consultative advice, and key data to assure success of the project. Principle Investigator Dr. Kenneth M. Johnson served as the Principle Investigator for the project. Dr. Johnson is a demographer and Professor of Sociology at Loyola University Chicago. His research examines longitudinal patterns and demographic change in the United States with a particular focus on population trends in nonmetropolitan areas. His recent research has included the impact that amenities, recreation and national forests have on demographic trends. He received his PhD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Research Assistance Dr. Timothy Weddle served as Research Manager for the project. Dr. Weddle is responsible for the software design, development and implementation. He received his BS in Engineering and his MBA from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, and his MA and PhD in Sociology from Loyola University Chicago. Ms. Rebecca Curtis served as Research Assistant for the project. Ms. Curtis is responsible for the final production. She received her BA in Sociology and Biology from Knox College located in Galesburg, Illinois and her MA in Sociology from Loyola University Chicago.
