Senior Fellow and Director of Evaluation Program

Sally Ward is Professor of Sociology at the University of New Hampshire. She is interested in the causes and consequences of poverty and inequality in American communities; the role of social policy in affecting social change; trends in out-of-wedlock childbearing and the impact of single parenthood on economic well-being; and unwanted sexual experiences on college campuses. She also has applied research interests and expertise in the evaluation of social programs. At Carsey, she is building an evaluation capacity, bringing together faculty, research staff, and students to evaluate social program efforts of nonprofit organizations in Northern New England.

Ward received her B.A. degree from the University of Maryland and her M.A. and Ph.D. degrees at Brown University. She served as Chair of the Department of Sociology for nine years and Associate Dean of the College of Liberal Arts for two years.
